Bashful?

How could I resist taking a picture of Haylee.  She said, “Picture!” and had me follow her outside.

Two Twist and One Pull = No Tooth

Congratulations Ella on losing the first of your front teeth. It was fun watching you push and pull the tooth with your tongue for the last week. And I am now sad that the nightly tooth show entertainment has ended. We will just wait for the next one to come loose.

Hebrews – Intro and 1:1

Book of Hebrews

Introduction
The author of Hebrews is debatable and unknown. The book of Hebrews was written to the Hebrew people; the Jews. It appears to have been written between 60-100AD, although some have marked it close to 70AD. The purpose of the book of Hebrews was to encourage the Jewish Christians in a few situations. They were encouraged to embrace the church, moving from the synagogues. “Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured.” (Heb. 13:13). In addition, they were encouraged to embrace the mission of telling others about the gospel. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) The Jewish Christians had become no different from the Non-Christian Jews in the synagogue. And the problem of unwillingness to live a Christian life set in their actions. “Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,” (Heb. 6:1).

Outline of Hebrews
Superiority of the Son over the prophets (Heb. 1:1-3)
Superiority of the Son over the angels (Heb. 1:4-2:18)
Superiority of the Son over the Mosaic Covenant (Heb. 3:1-4:13)
Superiority of the Son over the Aaronic Priesthood (Heb. 4:14-5:10; Heb. 6:13-7:28)
Superiority of the believing Jews over the unbelieving Jews (Heb. 5:11-6:12)
Superiority of the Son over the procedures of the Mosaic Covenant (Heb. 8:1-10:18)
Superiority of the Son advocated and revealed in believers (Heb. 10:19-13:25)

Hebrews 1:1 (ESV)
“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,”

Heb. 1:1 “Long ago” – The focus is not on the doctrine of revelation but the manner of revelation.

“by the prophets” – The Jewish people believed that the writers of Scripture were the prophets. Moses was even established as a prophet in Scriptures. “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen” (Deut. 18:15). This section of the verse is not just referring to Old Testament (OT) prophets from books like Joshua to Kings, but to all of the writers of the OT.

Basilica of the Sacred Heart – Notre Dame University

This is a really beautiful church building that the Indiana wedding was in last weekend. I could have just sat there for a couple hours and taken in all the paintings and architectural designs.
